The Variety Club of Illinois was formed in 1944, by local theatre owners and businessmen. Their mission was to do in Illinois what the Variety Clubs around the world were doing for children's causes. Since its inception, Variety Club of Illinois has dedicated its efforts to improving the quality of lives underprivileged, physically and mentally challenged, ill, abused and homeless children. Through various fundraising efforts, Variety Club affords itself the opportunity to contribute financially to children's programs, organizations, hospitals and schools.
Variety Club receives no government funding. We currently support a number of programs through special events, corporate sponsorships & underwriting and private & corporate donations.

History
Variety Club Children's Charities began in Pittsburgh on Christmas Eve in 1928, when a baby girl named Catherine was abandoned at the Sheridan Theater. The child was taken into the care of the theater owner and ten friends who were part of a small social club called the Variety Club, reflecting their various careers in show business. Publicity generated by the search for her family and support for her immediate care created a rush of donations from all around the country. Catherine's needs were soon surpassed, but the Variety Club continued raising money for needy children.
Variety Club Children's Charities accepts all and any donations of money and gifts during the year. Please send your donation, along with the name(s) and address(es) of the recipient(s) to:
